Cabinet committee on Law & Order reviews security arrangements across Punjab


LAHORE: Minister Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government Punjab Muhammad Basharat Raja says that protection of properties and lives of the citizens is top priority of PTI Government so the law enforcing agencies are directed to remain all time alert for maintaining law & order in the province. It was stated by him while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on law & order held at Civil Secretariat on Monday. Provincial Minister for Population Col ® Hasham Doger, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Taimoor Ahmad Khan, Chief Secretary Punjab Yousaf Naseem Khokher, Inspector General (IG) of Police Arif Nawaz, Additional IG CTD, Additional IG Special Branch and concerned officers also attended the meeting. A briefing was given on the investigation status of Data Darbaar incident and security arrangements made for Hazrat Ali (RA) day, Shab-e-Qadar, Jumat-ul –Wida, Youm-ul-Qads, Chand Raat, Eid-ul-Fitar and visit of Chinese Vice President.

Raja Bashrat directed the law enforcing agencies to ensure strict implementation of Punjab Tenants law to avert anticipated terroristic activities in Punjab besides keeping a close eye on certain thick populated areas such as walled city. He also stressed on the need of a comprehensive awareness campaign among the public to watch such elements around them. The committee appreciated the investigation team on prompt investigation of Data Darbar incident. The Committee decided to move foreign office for making effective visa policy for Afghan citizens visiting Pakistan. The house approved the establishment of divisional and district peace committees to be headed by the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners in Punjab. The house also decided to take stern action against the exhibition of Blue lights and illegal number plates on private and unauthorized vehicles.
